چکیده
The electromagnetic analog of an elastic spring-mass network is constructed. These electromagnetic circuits offer the promise of manipulating electromagnetic fields in new ways, and linear electrical circuits correspond to a subclass of them. They consist of thin triangular magnetic components joined at the edges by cylindrical dielectric components. (There are also dual electromagnetic circuits consisting of thin triangular dielectric components joined at the edges by cylindrical magnetic components.) Some of the edges can be terminal edges to which electric fields are applied. The response is measured in terms of the real or virtual free currents that are associated with the terminal edges. The relation between the terminal electric fields and the terminal free currents is governed by a symmetric complex matrix W. In the case where all the terminal edges are disjoint, and the frequency is fixed, a complete characterization is obtained of all possible response matrices W both in the lossless and lossy cases. This is done by introducing a subclass of electromagnetic circuits, called electromagnetic ladder networks. It is shown that an electromagnetic ladder network, structured as a cubic network, can have a macroscopic electromagnetic continuum response which is non-Maxwellian, and novel.

Hybrid electromagnetic circuits
Electromagnetic circuits are the electromagnetic analog at fixed frequency of mass-spring networks in elastodynamics. By interchanging the roles of ε and μ in electromagnetic circuits one obtains magnetoelectric circuits. Here we show that by introducing tetrahedral connectors having ε = μ = 0 one can join electromagnetic and magnetoelectric circuits to obtain hybrid circuits. Their response is...
متن کاملElectromagnetic Compatibility of CMOS circuits along the lifetime
The continuous scaling of CMOS circuits has set the MOSFET transistor in the nanoelectronic era. In this context, the functionality and complexity of integrated circuits (ICs) are growing up. However, the operation voltage has been continuously reduced. The higher complexity of ICs has allowed including electronic systems in a lot of safety critical applications (i.e., automotive, aeronautics a...
متن کاملImprovement of System Robustness through EMC Optimization
The electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) became a major concern for integrated circuits (ICs) during the last years. As the operating frequency has increased and the supply voltage has become lower, the electromagnetic emission as well as the susceptibility of integrated circuits increased tremendously. Generally speaking, EMC is defined as the ability of an electrical system to work properly in...
متن کاملElectromagnetic Model for Microwave Components of Integrated Circuits
This paper presents an accurate and robust time-domain electromagnetic model for microwave components of integrated circuits. The time-domain model has been validated on different structures such as metallic waveguides, planer lines and the transition of waveguide-microstrip line under harmonic oscillation excitation. The results obtained from simulation were compared to the experimental test r...
متن کاملSecond Harmonic Reduction of Traveling Wave Tube Amplifier Using Ferrite Material
Traveling Wave Tubes (TWTs) consist of different elements. The most important element of TWT is the RF circuit. RF circuits in helix TWTs need a dielectric support to hold the helix; this support also has an effect in electromagnetic properties of RF circuits. A novel dielectric support is proposed to reduce the second harmonic of helix TWTs. The dielectric support in this structure consists of...
